We’re excited to announce that local favorite RockLand will be performing live at the Pig Roast! Great music, great food, and great company!  What more could you ask for?

As I’ve said before: politics don’t belong in a probate courtroom… and they sure don’t belong at a pig roast either! So whether you’re red, blue, or just hungry, come on by, grab a bite, and enjoy the fun.

Hope to see you there!

9/22/25 - Experience Matters.

As a candidate for Judge of Probate, I’ve had the privilege of meeting many residents of Madison and Guilford, listening to your stories and learning what matters most to you.

Probate Court touches families during some of life’s most personal moments, be they adoptions, guardianships, conservatorships, and the loss of a loved one. It should be a place where compassion, clarity, and fairness guide every decision.

In the past year, I’ve appeared in 40 probate hearings, 28 of them right here in the Madison-Guilford Probate Court, and maintained appearances in 140 Superior Court cases. I have also been appointed by courts in East Haven-North Haven, Saybrook, and Niantic to serve families in need. This experience has shaped my belief that a probate judge must be prepared, impartial, and deeply committed to service.

I’d love to hear from you: What do you value in a probate judge? What qualities matter most when families are navigating difficult transitions? I’m happy to answer your questions and continue this conversation. Please feel free to reach to me out through the contact tab on this website or email me directly at tv4probate@gmail.com.

With gratitude,
Tom Virgulto
Candidate for Judge of Probate – Madison & Guilford

9/20/25 - Guilford Fair Parade + Fair Fun

What a great day at the Guilford Fair Parade! We were proud to march alongside neighbors who believe in fairness, compassion, and community.

Thank you to everyone who walked with us!  You made the day unforgettable!  The energy, the smiles, and the shared commitment to service were truly inspiring.

We also had a blast handing out squooshy footballs, just in time for the NFL and NCAA kickoffs and the launch of our campaign for Judge of Probate! It was a fun way to connect with families and share our message in a lighthearted way.

After the parade, we headed into the Fair and had an absolute blast. From local vendors to live music, it was a celebration of everything that makes Guilford special.

And yes, the pig races sponsored by the Connelly team at Coldwell Banker were a highlight! A perfect mix of laughter, excitement, and hometown charm.

Serving Madison and Guilford would be an honor. Let’s keep moving forward together.

9/11/25 - Solemn Ceremony

Never Forget.
On 9/12/01, we weren’t left or right. We weren’t blue or red.

We were one people—Americans. Red, white, and blue.

We stood together in grief, in resolve, and in hope.

Let’s get back there. To unity. To compassion. To community.

9/8/25 - Madison Salute Our Heroes

This week’s Madison Salutes Our Heroes event on the Green was a powerful reminder of the courage and sacrifice of those who serve. From the moving display of American flags across the Green, to the heartfelt words shared by Jen Gordon, the day was filled with reflection, gratitude, and pride.

It was also a joy to reconnect with friends like Tony and Jackie Raccio, and to see so many neighbors come together in support of our veterans and first responders. The Exchange Club of Madison continues to do a phenomenal job organizing this meaningful tradition.

Below are a few moments from the day.  Thank you to everyone who made it special.

9/7/25 - Guilford Porchfest 2025 – What a Blast!

Guilford Porchfest was an absolute joy! From the music echoing through the neighborhoods to the laughter and conversations on every corner, it was one of the most fun and vibrant events of the season.

I had a great time catching up with Madison friends Emmett and Gita Sullivan and soaking in the incredible local talent. The energy, the creativity, the community. It was all there.

If you missed it this year, make a note now: Porchfest is a must. I’ll definitely be back next year!

9/7/25 - Campaign Kickoff—with a Kick! 🏈

Football season is officially underway, and so is our campaign for Judge of Probate in Madison and Guilford!

To celebrate the season and connect with our community, we’re handing out squooshy footballs at the upcoming Madison-Guilford parade, and at other local events throughout the fall. It’s a fun way to spark conversations and share our commitment to fairness, compassion, and clarity in Probate Court.

We’re excited to meet you, on the sidelines, at community gatherings, and all across our district.  Here’s to a great season, both on and off the field!

9/6/25 - The Madison Jaycees Dave Parcells Madison Triathlon

What a morning! I had the pleasure of volunteering at the The Madison Jaycees CT Dave Parcells Madison Triathlon, and it was nothing short of inspiring. From the before-sunrise setup to cheering on athletes of all ages and abilities, the energy was electric and the community spirit was everywhere.

Seeing para-athletes, first-timers, and seasoned triathletes all pushing through the course reminded me why the shoreline is such a special place. Events like this bring out the best in us, neighbors supporting neighbors, volunteers stepping up, and everyone working together to make something meaningful happen.

As a candidate for Judge of Probate, I’m reminded daily that service isn’t just about the courtroom, it’s about showing up, listening, and being part of the fabric of our towns. Today was a great reminder of that.

Thank you to the organizers from the Madison Jaycees, athletes, and volunteers who made this morning unforgettable. I’m proud to be part of a community that leads with heart.

9/4/25 - Understanding Probate Court: Why It Matters to Our Community

Most people don’t think about Probate Court until they need it, and when they do, it is often during life’s most meaningful and challenging moments.

Probate Court is where families turn for help with adoptions, guardianships, conservatorships, and settling estates. It is where decisions are made about caring for loved ones, honoring final wishes, and protecting those who cannot speak for themselves.

It’s not just a legal process. it’s a place where compassion, clarity, and fairness must guide every step. Whether you're welcoming a child into your family or navigating the loss of a parent, Probate Court is there to help.

As someone who has worked in Probate Courts across multiple districts, I have seen firsthand how important it is to have a judge who understands both the law and the human side of every case.

To help demystify what Probate Court does, I’ve created the simple graphic below that outlines its core responsibilities. I hope it brings clarity, and shows just how vital this court is to our community.

8/24/25 Myron Spencer Dedication

Today’s ceremony at the North Madison Volunteer Fire Company was a moving tribute to Firefighter Myron “Mike” Spencer, who gave his life in the line of duty in 1950.

Thanks to the dedication of NMVFC and the leadership of State Senator Christine Cohen, a section of Route 80 will now bear his name.  This will be a lasting reminder of his service and sacrifice to the Town of Madison and its citizens.

A heartfelt thank you to my friend Mary Elliott, whose research helped bring Mike’s story to light.  It was an honor to stand with our community in remembering a true local hero.

8/20/25 - Your Voice Matters—Start by Registering to Vote

Registering to vote is one of the most powerful acts a citizen can take. It’s the gateway to having a voice in the decisions that shape our communities, our rights, and our future.

Participating in elections isn’t just a civic duty. It is a declaration that your values, concerns, and hopes matter. Whether you’re choosing local leaders or weighing in on national policy, voting is how we collectively steer the course of government.

In a democracy, silence is surrender. Registration is the first step toward speaking up, and making sure your voice is heard.

8/14/25: Beachcomber

We had a fantastic time at this year’s Beachcomber event, connecting with neighbors, local businesses, and friends old and new. Thank you to the Madison Chamber of Commerce and everyone who made the evening such a success. Events like these remind us why community matters, and why I’m proud to be running to serve Madison and Guilford with fairness, compassion, and clarity.

7/12/25 - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Tom Virgulto Announces Candidacy for Judge of Probate in

Guilford-Madison District

My name is Tom Virgulto, and I’m proud to announce my candidacy for Judge of Probate for

the Guilford-Madison Probate District.

“Connecticut’s Probate Courts are built on a 300-year-old foundation of service, integrity,

and the rule of law." 1 These courts handle some of the most sensitive and personal matters in

our legal system—estates, trusts, guardianships, and issues affecting seniors, children, and

individuals with disabilities. When families face loss or crisis, they turn to the Probate Court

for guidance. I believe that guidance should come with compassion, fairness, and a deep

respect for every individual’s rights.

My goal is to make our Probate Court a true asset to the community—a place where people

feel supported, heard, and treated with dignity. I want to ensure that the Court remains

open, accessible, and welcoming to all. I have ideas for how we can broaden the Court’s

reach and improve the way it serves the people of Guilford and Madison.

I’ve been practicing law since 1992. I earned my B.A. in History from Yale University and my

J.D. degree from Western New England University. I’m licensed to practice in all State and

Federal Courts in Connecticut and Massachusetts. My legal career began in New Haven,

where I also served on the City’s Board of Tax Review. Throughout my career, I’ve

maintained a general legal practice focused on helping individuals and families—especially

in probate matters, which have always been a central part of my work.

In 2005, I brought my practice home to Madison when I joined Hill & Hill, LLC as a partner.

My wife and I have lived in Madison since 1997, and our three children attended Madison’s

public schools. My office is just a few blocks from Memorial Town Hall, where the Probate

Court is located.

Serving the community has always been important to me. I served as President of Madison

A Better Chance (ABC) for six years and continue to serve as its Vice President. I’ve also

been involved with Madison Little League and coached youth baseball, softball, and

basketball for over a decade.

I’m running for Judge of Probate because I want to continue serving our community in a

meaningful way. I believe this role offers a unique opportunity to make a difference in

people’s lives during some of their most difficult times. I hope to earn your trust—and your

vote.
